This is the Matsumoto Castle.

Just a weekend trip out of Tokyo. This is a pretty cold place in January. The castle has been well preserved, and is open to the public. The side room (notice the red railings) is the "moon viewing" room. Here, geisha would entertain his highness, and guests. This castle is said to be very lavish for this addition.
